Streets built for people and bicycles don’t have sideshows.

So any time you hear some pro-cop tool like call for more cops, they are saying they want Proud Boys terrorizing your neighborhood.

Show thread

We can't rely on cops or sheriffs to do anything about this because they are anti-vaxers and Proud Boy sympathizers.

The Proud Boys are coordinating the anti-masker, anti-vax attacks on school boards.

The Proud Boys are a criminal gang protected by cops.

Reminder that the anti-vax fucksticks threatening you school board are the same shitbats threatening your school board over sex ed, trans rights, and evolution.

They are a criminal gang.

People are remembering all the stupid stuff post 9/11, and I just recalled the rush by FinBros to buy base jumping kit so they could yolo out of a burning skyscraper the next time someone decided to lash out at our imperialism.

The evacuation of Lower Manhattan was the largest sea-lift in human history. 500,000 people were rescued. The crews of the boats ferrying people fleeing the WTC are dying of the same conditions that other people at the site are dying from.

@mhoye I admire your patience. I don't think abandonware is the right word. When I first tried Emacs back in 1990-s, it was just as bad as it is now. I tried for a few days (naive young fool that I was), but eventually I gave up and never looked back. It wasn't abandoned, absence of empathy to its users has been the defining quality of its UX design throughout its history.

People will literally subscribe to multiverse theory instead of admitting they were wrong

Yesterday I said John Ashcroft ordered a statue of peace draped over at the UN bc it was a nude. But the statue was of Justice and it was at the DOJ building. I was confusing it with the tapestry of Picasso's Guernica, which was at the UN and was covered up when Colin Powell was there to advocate for bombing Iraq.

Your brain just mashes stuff together and goes "is this right?"

Because I so dearly love it when humans play along when computers ask for silly things, I have generated drawing prompts for #botober2021!

I've managed to get GPT-3 to follow themes. Here's "animals". The rest are at this link:

more seriously, the basic mistake underlying most of what passes for media criticism in the kind of spaces most people on here are likely to frequent is that criticism exists, not to enable us to understand works better, but to decide for us which works are morally good (and confer moral goodness on us) and which aren't (and make us morally bad)

you mention having a mullet and liking frogs and pheobe bridger, and Those gays are like 'omg im so called out', yeah cos you're part of the first wave of young people to really be able to Shop Gay

what im telling you is there's a reason so many openly queer musicians in the 70s went back in the closet (some never coming out again) in the 80s.

acceptance of people like us goes along with what sells and what doesn't, and when it stops selling to be queer, many people in media will change their image accordingly.

Wild ass space proposals: Hiller, of the Hiller Helicopter Company of Palo Alto, proposed a giant rotary wing aircraft to snag a Saturn V's first stage as it parachuted down.

It's here!

I'm super super happy to announce KDL 1.0.0 stable! This is the final-for-now spec!

KDL (pron. "cuddle") is a shiny new document language optimized for stuff like consideration. It's meant to replace stuff like YAML/JSON/XML.

Check it out:

The cultural response to 9/11 is like your family rending garments at the funeral of someone who was a crony of Whitey Bulger's.

"This is awful, we must never forget, vengance!"

"Why was he mixed up with Whitey Bulger?"

"How dare you! He was pure and innocent!"
